Cleaning a deck or wood fence using only water will not get you the best results. Using high pressure to wash a wood deck will not only look bad but you can cause serious damage to the wood. Here at M&D Power washing we clean wood decks and fences using our 3 step process. The three steps involve using professional cleaners and low pressure to wash your wood deck or fence.
Professional cleaners: When cleaning your deck or fence we first start out cleaning and removing the old stain. We mix up a soap and a stripping solution that will clean the surface and remove any algae and mildew. We wash this off using low pressure because we don’t want to damage the surface.
Getting the wood ready for stain: After we have removed all algae and mildew along with any stain we then neutralize. By neutralizing the wood we use a mild acid cleaner that is for wood only. This mild acid will not harm the wood it will brighten it and get it ready for stain.
Choosing the right stain: You can choose either a clear, semi transparent or solid stain. Clear will not have any pigment and a semi will show the grains of the wood. By using a solid stain this will protect the wood the longest because it has a high pigment color, with that being said it will protect against the suns UV rays longer.
